Expectations

Beryllium is created through stellar nucleosynthesis and is therefore a very rare element in the universe. It is divalent, which means that it may only exist in nature with other elements and minerals. When it exists freely from other elements, it is a brittle alkaline earth metal. Just like Beryllium, we are each unique individuals with varying talents, wandering this earth. It isn’t until we combine our efforts that we may all come together to create an incredible mineral gemstone, such as an emerald. When we act in our own favor, rather than as a team, we are far less strong; we are as brittle as lone Beryllium and may never shine as the complex, multidimensional minerals we know we were destined to be. In order to “Be” our best selves, we must act as one functioning unit and always attempt to follow these classroom expectations.
